South Coast Kindness Initiative

NEWPORT BEACH, CA, MARCH 8, 2021 – South Coast Investment Advisors announced the launching of the South Coast Kindness Initiative, an ongoing campaign designed to spread joy in the local community through small acts of kindness.

The idea started in 2020, a difficult year for many families on multiple fronts. The holidays came and went with almost all company holiday parties cancelled. Kelly Clyde, Partner at South Coast explained, “We weren’t able to host our annual South Coast holiday party, so we decided instead to encourage clients to help SPREAD SOME JOY by doing something nice for someone with a gift card South Coast would provide. Mental health was at an all-time low, Covid had  shut down the entire economy and the U.S. was in the midst a very contentious election that nearly split the country in half. We all needed a pick-me-up.”

To get the campaign started, South Coast sent out gift cards to clients with a note asking for that client to do something nice for someone else. “This could have been as simple as buying coffee for the person standing behind you in line, purchasing a toy for a local toy drive, donating to a charity of your choice, or anything else that was near and dear to your heart. We wanted to make it easy, whatever you felt was right was good with us,” added Chris Vizzi. “The idea was that these little things could add up to make a big difference.”

The only thing South Coast asked in return was that clients shared their stories of how they used the cards. The feedback and outpouring of generosity was overwhelming. Experiences ranged from buying clothes and toys for families in need at Christmas, providing lunch for homeless people in the community, to helping friends and neighbors who were out of work. South Coast had several dozen stories reported back, many of which included clients even adding funds to go along with the gift. More than a dozen organizations received support.

The team at South Coast was so inspired they decided to keep the South Coast Kindness Initiative ongoing throughout the entire year with a theme to SPARK JOY in 2021. In February South Coast teamed up with the LIFT Foundation on their outreach with Project Self Sufficiency to provide Valentine’s Day Letters and Gift Cards for the 57 single parents in the program. It was a small reminder that someone out there cares, and the impact that it made will be long lasting. In March, they will be helping put together Easter baskets for the kids in those same families.

Project Self Sufficiency is a four-year college degree program designed for single parents who are not only working and going to school but also raising a family by themselves. These are some of the hardest working moms and dads that you ever met who care deeply for their children and want to break the cycle of poverty through education. Their courage and perseverance is really amazing.

South Coast has several additional outreaches that they are working with and can’t wait to share them as the year goes on.
